CAN YOU BELIEVE ITS ALMOST CHRISTMAS? I swear we skipped November entirely. I've got two more presents to pick up tomorrow, then I'm all done. Just got to tidy around and pack, ready for heading back on saturday. I'm heading back on boing day (day after christmas day for non-brits), because I'm in work the 27th, so it will be a short but still exhausting holiday. I'm sort of looking forward to it, but also nervous because it's a complete unknown, so that's worrying. It'll be fine, I can just hide out with my siblings if all else fails.

I asked on twitter but I'm going to ask here: recs for longish fics? I'll have the internet but it will be spotty and I'll be on my ipod with the crap battery, so I'm going to download as many as possible to read offline to keep me sane while I'm at home. Merlin/Sherlock/Teen Wolf. I'm not fussy with pairings.

Also I am trying to write a Teen Wolf AU where Stiles works a palm reader and Derek works as [something I haven't figured out yet] in a carnival and there is palm reading and maybe a spot of touch starved Derek, and pining and boys in love? I have no time to write this week but lets see what happens. It is all hermette's fault as she prompted it on twitter and the next thing I know I've spent three hours researching palmistry.

Time to load up the ipod with christmas stuff to get me in the mood, I think :) Favourite christmas song?

I've been a bit 'meh' recently. I want to write but I can't focus on any one idea long enough to actually go through with it? This has been the first time in a loooong time that I haven't had a deadline for writing. I think I've forgotten how to write off my own back :/ Quick someone poke me to write something!

I also want to write a John/Sherlock/Lestrade fic, and some lady fic. Either femslash or just awesome ladies being awesome, but I've never written it before? *ponders*

I haven't felt like reading fic either DDD: which is a shame because some of the fests are producing some awesome stuff but I'm just...meh? meh meh meh.

I blame Christmas. I love Christmas, I just don't want to spend it around my parents - they're far too stressful (and this year is going to be even worse, because they're strapped for cash this year, which makes them feel bad). And I need a lift back on Boxing Day (which I haven't asked my stepdad about yet - if I do it now he'll forget by the actual day and that'll be a whole new level of shit). Dreading it, tbh. BUT it doesn't matter. Because my siblings are awesome and I'll only be there for 5 days, for that's totally do-able.

Work is work, nothing new there.

So, I have almost finished all my fest writing, so I'm now casting around for other things. Inspired slightly by

fleete making a list of her Merlin wips, I thought I'd do the same (but all fandoms), to see if there was anything that catches my muse. Requests taken!

Merlin
- Merlin/Scott Pilgrim mash-up, with Arthur as Scott, Merlin as Ramona, and Mordred as Gideon (also Leon as Wallace :D)
- Leon/Merlin canon era: for a kmm prompt - Leon always had a thing for Merlin but he is a noble and Merlin isn't. Seeing Arthur fall in love with Gwen/knight non-nobles etc leads Leon to think about making a move on Merlin.
- Arthur/Gwaine: Forced to spend a night in a cell together, they get to know each other better.
- A paperlegends idea: Canon era, magical reveal. Arthur realises that Merlin is still a flaily mess even with magic, he uses his tactical knowledge and skills training knights to figure out Merlin's magic - strengths, boundaries, etc.
- Merlin/Gwaine(/Gwen, possibly). Merlin is a piercer, Gwen is a tattoo artist. Together they run a shop. Gwaine is a friend/lover who hangs about. Gwaine ends up getting a corset piercing, aftercare etc.
- Student!Merlin/Teacher!Gwaine
- I have 1k of Merlin/Gwaine/Percival porn with Gwaine directing the scene titled sortofcukold?

Avengers
- Touch starved!Bruce/Clint. Because I can.

Teen Wolf
- Stiles gets a tongue piercing, Derek gets distracted because a)smell of blood/metal etc is unusual and b) Stiles isn't talking. And then porn.

Sherlock
- Not technically a WIP but I want to do a Mycroft/John fic with them dealing with Richenbach and Mycroft knowing about Sherlock faking his death, but not being able to tell John for John's safety and Mycroft trying desperately to keep everyone safe, and maybe ends up losing John and having to make it up to him etc etc

I am 99% sure my feeling crap is self-inflicted. Went out for drinks last night, got a bit drunk, stomach responded spectacularly a couple of hours later and I did not have a fun walk home. I've felt nauseated all day :( I've never had this reaction to alcohol before (otherwise I wouldn't have drunk that much).

I've made my fandom twitter private - comment or add me or whatever, I am totally open to adding people, just paranoid - I am applying for a job at a tech/web company, their google-fu might be strong, so am trying to distance RL from fandom, which I hate doing, but its something I feel I should do :(

Merlin tomorrow :D I'm still feeling 'hmmmm' about this series in general, but I'm open minded. I'm hoping Mordred will win me over, as I appear to be alone not being part of the Mordred love-fest that is going on right now.

For US peeps, how long does it take for you to get something if you order from Amazon? The UK version of the Avengers has some differences in the cut, and the only way to get the original is to buy the US region free blu-ray. According to Amazon's site, it can take anywhere from 18-32 days to get here.

I was wondering if it would be quicker to ask if anyone in the US would be kind enough to buy it for me, post it to me and I'll pay and write you fic/send you postcards/make you a fanmix/any of the above?

Life has been a odd the past week or so. It hasn't been omgbusy, but it's been...anxiety-inducing and I haven't felt able to relax. I've had the constant niggly feeling I've forgotten to do something. If anyone is expecting anything from me, please poke me!

I had to work a full day monday which I wasn't expecting and so this screwed up all my plans for the week, which was a bit annoying. But it meant I got to leave work at lunchtime yesterday, so that was a nice start to the weekend.

As part of my get healthy kick I've decided to take up swimming, my first session was yesterday. My ankles being dodgy, I can't do much (if any) high impact exercise, and I enjoy exercise, I enjoy using my body. I haven't swam since school (it works out to about a decade ago), so I was incredibly flaily but I enjoyed it and I'm assuming I'll get better with time.

I thought I'd be achy this morning but I'm fine, although I seem to have sprained my wrist, so am currently wearing a very stylish dark blue compression bandage. This puts a spanner in my writing plans, as I was trying to get a lot of uni_merlin words down, so I'll have to see how it goes.

Finally brought The Hunger Games, so will be watching that tonight (after Dr Who, obvs). Very excited! Loved the books, looking forward to see it translated to film.

I'm fairly betrayed it's not Friday. Tomorrow is either going to be nice and slow or horrible and terribad.

But! I have next week off and I am going to write all the words. All of them. I'm also going to enjoy not being at work with my terrible co-worker, and de-stress with films, and things. People are talking about Teen Wolf a lot - worth a download? (Like I need a new fandom).

I've got in-laws down this weekend, and I'm going to visit mine next weekend, which I think is more than enough activity :P

I keep having this vague plot bunny for a hooker!fic (but think more Belle de Jour). Character A is doing a PhD and using sex-work to pay for it and is fine and not broken or being taken advantage of or whatever, and is going to stop once they graduate. Then one of their clients (B, for the sake of this ramble) falls in love with them (and vice versa), and maybe B wants to do the whole 'save them from themselves' thing, but A gets angry because they know what they're doing and have this whole life plan down and who is B to come and try and white knight them? Some angst about B not wanting A to do sex work any more and A refusing to stop because it's their livelihood. And then some form of resolution, maybe.

SO YEAH. I just want to get it out because I have no idea where it would even go (and I have enough to write already), it just keeps rattling around my head

So my book review site failed epically, because I fail /o\. But I do want to keep a bit of a record of what I've read this year.

Maus (Graphic Novel)
The Millennium Trilogy
The Hunger Games Trilogy

9 books in 6 months isn't bad going, I don't think. I've enjoyed all of them immensely, but I'm definitely on the lookout for something more upbeat next time - I found the Hunger Games quite hard to get though.

The only thing I have on my to-read list for definite is Neverwhere, but I'm not sure if I want to read that next. Will have to go through our books and find something to read tomorrow.

She has a new album coming out soon! I've listened to some of it and I'm really loving it. Under the cut is a video for 'All The Rowboats', which is lovely.

So, I was wondering if anyone would be up for a postcard exchange? Because I love sending/receiving post, and it's been years since I've sent a postcard to someone I met on the internet.

The postcards from me will wither be your normal shop brought ones (from Manchester), or photos that I'll take and get printed myself (I'm looking at printing prices right now :)). I would love to receive one in exchange - I love to see what the places people live are like :D

I'm going to go on the hunt for long fics to download onto my ipod for the journeys (recs, anyone? Sherlock, Merlin, X-Men (preferably FC, but will take any of the film verses. Hi new fandom, hiii).

My plans will mainly involve spending time with my younger siblings, and knitting. Writing is going on hiatus, but I'm hoping the complete break (not even taking the laptop with me), will refresh me.

I'll have my ipod so can go online, but won't really be around from tomorrow til Monday evening.

So, fic writing is going ok. This weekend is HS_Merlin weekend while I digest some feedback about my PL fic. I'm over 15k at the mo so can afford a weekend of not writing it :)

Sherlock ReBang art should be up over the weekend too. I'm quite nervous, I'm really hoping there's something to inspire me. I miss writing for the Sherlock fandom but my Sherlock muse has just upped and left :(

One of the other things I've noticed recently is I've stopped reading fic. I've just...lost interest? Lost time? Either way, there has been a dearth of fic reading, which is a shame. So, in the hopes of getting back into the swing of things, I'm going to post some recs, which will lead me to seek out some fic (and in seeking out fic I liked, possibly lead me on to other fic.
